Dan Tamas speaking at Appcelerator Meetup @ Mobile World Congress 2012

After speaking at The Evnt in May 2011, 2012 brought to our Titanium Appcelerator developer an invitation to speak at the Appcelerator Meetup held at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona.

Dan’s speech was about building a freelance career in mobile development around the Appcelerator community but basically his idea can be applied in other areas as well.

Dan Tamas
Being involved in the community comes with its advantages and it’s very well worth spending one hour each day on the Q&A forum, answering questions related to developing iPhone and Android (soon Blackberry and Windows Mobile) apps.

I posted his speech on the CSS Gallery blog so please free to read it and leave your opinion there. I just want to paste here a little excerpt:

…coming back to my portfolio what does the client see?

Some certification – everybody has one – a boring FunyABC app for kids, MotorSport – an auto magazine for a German publication, some books and of course the biggest hit: the divorce calculator.

Nothing fancy, nothing outstanding. But because I’m pretty in the picture the client gives me a chance and asks me for an interview.

What can I come up with?
